The Jed Report: This Is How You Stick It To Lying Republican Hacks

  • niqui · 1 year ago
Hey Jed, you've got trolls -- must mean they think you're doing good work!

Anyways. Excellent work by Ari there. Exactly the right tone -- disbelieving and aggressive, really put the GOP guy on the defensive. There's no better way for us to address these outright silly claims -- treat them like the last ditch efforts of the desperate that they are. I mean really, if you're resorting to "lipstick on a pig"-gate and "OMG, Crazy Obama wants to teach Kindergarteners about sex!" you're really scraping the bottom of the barrel. Would definitely like to see more like this from the surrogates.

Yep, that's awesome. Your friend did good, Jed. We need to see more of that from Obama supporters in the media. These attacks require smackdowns, not "on the one hand, on the other" style talking head debates.

Amazing. This stuff makes my blood boil! Just like Bounds interview with Campbell Brown. First avoid the question. Then attack the opponent. And then, when pushed by a competent member of the "media elite," take a completely untenable position.

Is the American public seeing this stuff???

Why doesn't somebody put out an ad explaining how much McCain is twisting things? It's pathetic.

  • Modern Jackass Magasin · 1 year ago
Guys, the thing is, S.B. 99, the bill to which the McCain ad on sex education was referring, does actually have language that can be construed as allowing school districts to teach sex education to children as young as kindergarten:

Each class or course in comprehensive sex
14 education offered in any of grades K 6 through 12 shall
15 include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted
16 infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread
    17 of HIV AIDS.

    full text: http://modernjackassmag.com/2008/09/11/sexy-bar...

I don't see "teaching children in kindergarten about sexual predators" as the main intention of the bill. I'd love to be corrected though with factual evidence, so please feel free to post into at my site.

The question I'm asking is why they let these GOP buffoons on the air in the first place.

Did any of you see Gremlins 2? There's a scene in the movie where a news show is interviewing The Brain, a super-intelligent Gremlin baring the voice of the late, great Tony Randall.

That's exactly what all these cable shows remind me of when they submit to dignifying these lying Republicans.

"You know that ad is a lie... Are you saying today that the bill is about teaching kindergartners about sex? Are you claiming that on TV?"

I love it. Make them defend their belief in their own BS. They have no choice but to come across as either complete idiots or having the viewpoint of an extremist, incapable of sound judgment. "Is this what your really believe?"

Make them have to say, "No, it's not a lie!" and defend the ridiculous, defend a viewpoint that defies common sense.

"This is a lie. Any sane person knows it's a lie. So shame on you for repeating this lie."
  • AnthonyP · 1 year ago
I have to say I was really down yesterday. But now I see the polls being virtual ties again and (very) slight movement towards Obama in fact. The ridiculous lipstick story of the last 48hrs just made so depressed. The state-by-state polls are very good for Obama in the sense that the reason why the national polls are so high is because the red states are now going overwhelmingly for McCain. But those states Obama wasn't going to win anyway, so it doesn't matter if he loses there by over 60% or 70%.

The McCain campaign is just filled with contempt. Stealing Obama's message and spinning the media for poor Sarah and turning Obama and Democrats into sexists is just sickening.

But I feel the media getting irritated with the McCain campaign'and the Clinton meeting, Paul Begala, and Donna Brazile really cheered me up today...as well as Mr. Welber, great job.

You're right Mr. McCain: change is coming. It's coming with President Obama.

I was a registered Republican living in Arizona a few years back and I liked having Mr. McCain as my Senator. Having said that, the new incarnation of John McCain, from the convention on, really is sickening. His choice for VP was reckless and purely political in nature. The convention was an onslaught of negativity and mean-spiritedness and I learned nothing about what a McCain administration would do for our country. He changed his campaign theme to "change" from "experience" well, what is he going to change? I have no idea. He really used to be a maverick, now he is a shallow liar. As for this ad- I've seen many people say that he must not be in the loop, that he is too honorable to run an ad like this. Well, that is no excuse, as the ad says- he approved the message, he is ultimately responsible. I was a big supporter of his in 2000 and was very angry at the dirty tricks played by then governor Bush in the primary. This is so much worse, it really makes me sad actually. One more thing- it is really twisted and sick to criticize protecting kids from perverts. This is about the safety of small children. The McCain campaign deserves to have this blow up in their faces for the sake of those kids.
  • Braeden · 1 year ago
This is exactly what the Obama camp needs to call out in their own ad; and Obama should narrate and star in it himself. The "No mavericks" ad was a somewhat weak attempt at what needs to really be said: the honor, integrity, and patriotism that McCain claims to espouse is really cutthroat, stop-at-nothing, power-first, country-second politics. He would rather win an election on a false narrative, cage in voters, and deny America the substantive discourse it deserves about how to change course and lift up the people. McCain has provided plenty of ammunition to fill up a few "Once a good soldier, now a dishonorable politician" ads.

This is also an opportunity for Obama to define a new tagline that reinforces his commitment to making the lives of ordinary Americans better, because McCain doesn't seem to care make that commitment.

Course material and instruction shall teach pupils ... how to say no to unwanted sexual advances ... and shall include information about verbal, physical, and visual sexual harassment, including without limitation nonconsensual sexual advances, nonconsensual physical sexual contact, and rape by an acquaintance. The problem with America is that the 75% of the population are homogeneously caucasion and live in small towns which tends to breed intolerence for other people who are different; These people tend to be conservative and republican.

People who live in large metropolitan areas are diverse in terms of race, culture, socio economic status which tends to breed tolerance; These peple tend to be liberal and democrats.

So, when it gets down to the issues, the Republcan view does not support the best interest of the masses of people so they avoid the issues by using smear tactics while cling to their guns and religion.

Since more than 75% of the population lives outside the top 25 metropolitan areas, there are more people living in small towns and explains why McCains numbers are so high compared to Obama. Let's face it, Obama has changed the face of politcs already by obtaining his donations from millions of individuals and hosting events of 84,000 participants in US and 200,000 in Germany! Obama is is playing the game of politics on the level that Tiger Woods plays golf or Michael Jordan plays basektball.

In other words more than half ot the population is either ignorant or just plain stupid! Given our education system, I would guess the former.
  • CKizz · 1 year ago
Okay. 1) McCain is hands down gonna win the election and we all know it.

    2) To teach kids about SEXUAL predators...you HAVE to teach them about SEX. "Stranger danger" is not the same thing as "sexual predators". Obama did support it and I've read the bill and it's very ambiguous and a piece of crappy legislation. Something an unexperienced congressman WOULD support.

    3) That guy is a whiny little liberal douchebag that can't do anything except cry about how much everything is a lie and distortion and racially motivated. If that's so...don't tout Obama as the "first African American president" (also, he's not...he's 12.5% African negroe, 37.5% Arab and 50% white...and he wasn't born in Africa so he's not AFRICAN) and don't act like he has experience and is all about hope and change when he picks a political dinosaur to be his running mate. You guys are idiots. Crybaby idiots.
  • JLP · 1 year ago
The problem with the bill, like most of the bills the liberals put up for vote affecting public schools, is that it takes away my right as a parent to determine what and when to teach my kids about sex. The bill itself is ambiguous about what and how these kids will be taught about the dangers of sexual predators. A teacher could have the latitude to discuss what sex is and why this person wants to have sex with them. I mean, COME ON!!!!! WHAT KIND OF WORLD DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN HERE? DO YOU WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO RUN YOUR LIVES COMPLETELY?!?!!? GEEZ!!!!!! This guy Ari is a political hack and a uses the typical liberal tactic of calling the other person a liar instead of being intellectually honest with the listeners. You guys are just a bunch of kool-aide drinkers. Get a clue.

for CKizz... you have not state one fact and all very strange and skewed opinions. Based on your view of teaching young children about sexual predetors, I would guess that you are either a child molester or a catholic priest and I can say that because I was abused by a catholic priest in first grade, you douchebag! If I would have been educated early on, I would have been better prepared to deal with his bastard penis in my anus. You make conservatives want to vomit!!!
  • JLP home school your kids then · 1 year ago
JLP you sound like you should home school your kids then.

Better yet, if you are a concerned parent about child molestation, they why don't you attend the school and work as a team to protect your children.

By the way, what age do you stop calling a penis a weenie? And stop thinking that child molestation doesn't exist?

The reason to teach children about child molestation is because they are CHILDREN you idiot! Why wait until they have been molested as a child to educate them when they are an adult?

Given this context, clearly your political beliefs supports the proliferation of child molesters.

I would say that the McCain ad is as equally as misleading as Democrats saying McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time. Which is ALWAYS repeated ad nausem, and is patently false. Bush does not vote in the Senate. Period. If the Obama campaign wants to spread lies like that, McCain is simply firing back with something as equally misleading and damaging (although less believable lol).
I am disappointed in both campaigns.

I have to say I laughed out loud several times during this exchange. People in the media have danced around such direct talk in the spirit of appearing nonpartisan, and in the distant past, perhaps, it has been benign because no one wanted to risk being taken to task. Unfortunately, since the entrance of Bush Jr. and Rove, the Republicans have taken advantage of this by saying whatever terrible lies they want to and having those lies become labeled as "controversy" and "disagreement" instead of what they are - flat out lies. I am encouraged that more and more people are now willing to come forward and be unafraid to say that a lie is a lie. Major kudos to Ari for calling a spade a spade.

I think what folks are missing here is not whether or not the bill was vague, because THAT IS NOT WHAT THE AD CLAIMED! The ad claimed that Obama WANTED TO TEACH KINDERGARTNERS ABOUT SEX BEFORE THEY LEARN TO READ. This is in fact a lie. Just because the person sent to defend it tries to spin it and make it an issue about the bill itself, don't forget the discussion was about THE AD!
  • The truth wins · 1 year ago
Read the bill. The bill is specifically about sex education (not just "education") and specifically calls for starting that education in Kindergarten. It does not go into detail about what the exact topics would be, and neither does it restrict what the exact topics would be.

I would like to believe the Kindergarten would select only appropriate material, but this bill would have given them the right to select inappropriate material. This is one reason that it was (rightfully) defeated.

Then as they can't take care of themselves, the libs can put them on all sorts of government subsidies to make them dependent on government and then continue to vote for Dems to keep the freebies (aka "Rights") coming.

Google this term, "teen pregnancy rate." Not that it matters, because we are all anonymous and we want so bad for our team to win therefore the truth gets lost. The one thing that have made me extremely proud to call myself an American is that liberals don't scream and holler, don't call people names, they just point to the truth. I truly feel really good about this. So here I am, a liberal, again pointing to the truth.

    i literally clapped after that
also, before you go on those shows, do they tell you to say shame on you instead of the other options? because that seems to be the insult of choice on many news networks

Hmm, so it seems the GOP parroting dorks decided to show up to this thread and pull that crap they pull on Youtube and Digg, eh?

Very good that you all ignored them.

Wow...Brad Blakeman is such a tool. I've often seen him on MSNBC. It was just so satisfying to see him get hit with the truth like that.

I have a 4 year old daughter who will be heading to kindergarten next year. It is my duty and my job as a parent to teach my child about sex education when I feel deemed to do so. In no way would I allow my 5 year old daughter to go to a school where they teach sex education. If you read the full document outlining his proposal, it is disgusting. I was voting for Obama but this is crazy. I'm sitting this one out this year. He is just too extreme.

I think I love this Ari guy. Thank you for being passionate about the TRUTH and calling these so-called analysts on their lying crap.

Actually, after watching that a second time, I know I love Ari. Can we send him on all the talk shows?
  • Jim · 1 year ago
That was lovely. A round of drinks for everyone!
  • Ali · 1 year ago
Ari held his ground, and he deserves some major kudos for that. But hey, let's give the journalist some credit here, too. When the Republican strategist avoided her question, she interrupted his evasive nonsense mid-stream and restated the question. Then she did it a third time when he side-stepped again. This is what we need to see more of in this campaign: journalists who do not accept evasive answers and who hammer their questions even harder when they're being avoided.

Obama needs to put more people like Ari out there to speak the truth, and the Media needs more reporters like Contessa!

    priceless!
politics are not this intriguing in Canada, the whole world is watching

Ari's doing U of M proud by using force and facts to defend Obama from the slander and lies of the Bush, I mean, McCain campaign.
  • freeman · 1 year ago
Hey Ted, you are totally full of crap! I did read the ENTIRE bill and it wasn't his proposal. Nor did it say to teach sex-ed to little kids. It had 2 main objectives- to allow parents to OPT OUT (part a) and to emphasize ABSTINENCE (part b). It did have another part saying that the little kids should be taught to avoid perverts, is that OK with you? Have you taught your 4 year old about "stranger danger?" If not I hope her school does......

I have read as many comments here as Sarah Palin has read articles on foreign affairs, so I'm out of it in that respect. But surely it must have been brought up by now, the way this lying mother_______ hangs himself by his own logic:

"Well, the bill is just unclear..."

    Oh?

If it's now so unclear, how can McCain claim to know what the bill was calling for?

I'm sure that if the Dem strategist had the time, he would have nailed this lying sack of ____ to the wall.

Within a week, McCain has lost all credibility as an honorable and serious candidate. "She governs a state right next to Russia; she understands Russia" should have sunk him immediately.

We're in a surreal time when this candidacy and this ticket are treated with any seriousness by a mainstream press. I've never before seen something this off-the-charts in a campaign in my life. GodDAMN the Religious Right for unleashing this insanity on us.

The idea of a Palin Presidency is mind-blowing. Everyone with a brain cell realizes this fact. How can the MSM take any of it seriously?

    Way to go Ari....

It is just so sad that half of this country is ignorant enough to believe the bullshit lies that the republican party is distributing. It is just appalling and unbelievable that so many people actually side with these liars and cheaters. It feels like we're in grade school and the bully can't come up with any reason for their actions so they just lie and change the story so that they might have chance to maintain their reputation as a completely uninformed albeit powerful, dumbass. They need to learn how to fight fair, but oh, I guess they can't because they're evil scumbags who don't have a case! It makes me sick that people won't take the time or effort to examine who they are voting for or why.

This nation disgusts me, but people like Ari are the types we need to survive these times. Props to him for taking a stab at McCain and his little sycophant trolls like Brad Blakeman.
  • LosingFaith · 1 year ago
Okay..so she asks the one guy about 9/11 and about holding off on the politics, which he answers politely, then sets the ball on the tee for this Ari puke and lets him drive away on the political ramifications about some B.S. ad that I've never seen and I bet you haven't either.

Then she and the other guy decide to work together to corner this guy.

And then you wonder why they say that mainstream media is liberal.

Too bad for y'all that none of these people, nor this rediculous line of questioning, will have any impact what-so-ever on voters.

This is what is wrong with us (liberals), we think this is what matters. It really isn't meaningful at all.

We need to get a grip.

Thanks go to the brilliant and fair Contessa Brewer, who took no crap from Blakeman, either.

Brad Blakeman is a bloated, brain-dead lying sack of robotic liquid crap. Not only do I disagree with everything that comes out of his disgusting mouth, I hate having to look at him say it. Is there any effective way to complain to MSNBC in the hope that they will discontinue using his "services". I realize that he (and they?) well may thrive on this type criticism, I still feel compelled to express my disgust.
