Good job Jed. This is pretty straight forward to how these two would lead in a crisis.

really? does this video actually show anything at all? it's a bunch of cherry-picked clips to make the candidates look however the editor wants. i can't stand these idiotic propaganda videos that leave out all context. but the public sure does eat it up.

McCain has repeatedly acknowledged that he doesn't understand the economy
and so he has no smart answers to these Issues.

    Jed,

I sent a note to Keith Olbermann asking him to take a look at your video and discuss the contrast between the candidates on his show tonight . This short video is devastating. Barack looks and sounds presidential. McCain looks insecure and small.
  • AnjaCarle · 1 year ago
It's SO clear.... Obama approaches the issue seriously and gives clear messages to people who are very worried about the situation - and McCain takes the opportunity to turn this critical time into partisan finger pointing. Who's going to "reach across the aisle?" - not McFudd
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
Jed I don't know about you or any of the other posters here, but I am frikkinng exhausted. I've spent a week now, at first laughing about lipstick and SNL skits, then I looked at my teen kids, thinking with horror they are almost draft age, going to the businesses I own and wondering if revenue would continue enough for me to feed my family and provide my emplyees with a good living, getting furious at a president who not only ISN'T presidential in any way, he cannot even ACT like it, and now I am very scared after logging off my retirement and college portfolios and seeing lots and lots of red. I truly tell you. We are at a crossroads here folks. If we can't see past our shortcomings, prejudices, and past behaviors and look and act for CHANGE, we are doomed and we are dooming future generations as well. Go out, get busy, volunteer, call, go door to door, get busy. It is absolutely now or never.
  • riffle · 1 year ago
    Great comparison Jed.

Also, Obama took questions for quite a few minutes after his comments. I didn't see McCain's event but read that he just left the stage without answering questions.

No questions? Afraid he'll threaten Spain again by accident?

McCain did a drive-by sliming. Obama acted like an adult, and even more Presidential than our current prez.

Best Ad from Obama. "On the economy its John McCain who needs an education"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QxqjAejRF94
  • JJF · 1 year ago
Obama is really hitting exactly the right note of leadership that the country needs right now. I think he compares favorably with the great presidents who have steered us through difficult crises in our past. It's a shame we couldn't have had his type of leadership in our response to 9/11.

The contrast between Obama and McCain, demonstrated many times throughout this week especially, is, I hope, the reason Obama will carry the day on November 4. Every week will not be as eventful as this one, but clearly the momentum is shifting in the right direction, and at this rate Obama might win by a bigger margin than anyone expects.

I have only caught up with this blog in the past few weeks, but you do a great job getting right to the heart of the important matter of the day. This clip needs to be seen by everybody.

Something's seriously wrong with McCain, physically. Look at the left side of his face, his left eye.
  • davidfromsandiego · 1 year ago
    joe_bourgeois:
you are correct, i still feel that the question of mccain's age is important, lets imagine mccain wins, and then he gets sick in 6 months due to an undisclosed melanoma, and palin takes over, who would pull the strings??

this is a scary thought and needs more people asking before they give their vote to mccain.

if something were to happen to obama and biden took over i'd be ok with that.

if he would have picked romney i would not be as worried, but palin is seriously flawed at this level, heck gwb would be better than palin at this point and that is a scary thought.
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
I agree, David, and I never thought I'd say it, but I've already said it several times -- McCain would be worse than Bush. Palin would be far worse.
Yes, that is scary. VERY scary.

They keep using the word 'reform' but reform isn't always a good thing.
I'm afraid the kind of reform they have in mind is RADICAL reform that would send us back to the Dark Ages.

    February-

I watched that speech again a few days ago. It's available at the Obama YouTube channel. It was VERY impressive, yet harldy anyone was paying attention at the time. It would make a great "blast from the past" video right about now. And what was McCain saying about the economy at the time?
  • RandyH · 1 year ago
I'm watching Race For The White House right now, which I usually skip. I'm shocked by Pat Buchanan's absolute PRAISE of what a great, presidential Statesman Obama is being today and what an immature jerk McCain is being. People are freaking out right now about their financial standing. The government is doing the best they can to make things better, regardless of their past failures that caused this mess. And John McCain, of all people, is pointing fingers.
  • Jed Lewison · 1 year ago
Randy -- I've been trying to upload Buchanan's praise for the past 40 minutes to no avail. Am trying again...hopefully it will finally click in.
  • TimF · 1 year ago
McMahon (sp) called McCain a "Petulant Grouch" on Race to the White house. I've been waiting for SOMEONE to say that. The guy was supposed to be giving a speech on a crisis and he couldn't leave Obama out of it.

    They are reeling.

This is a great jedvid - what a stark difference.
McCain is like FRANTIC, spewing anything that comes to his unstable mind. Never mind the facts, I am a mavrick, I can make up my own facts and change them the next day, or hour.. geez,,, imagine him and Ms. Palin in the white house. YIKES... I get the cold sweats just thinking about it.

The lies and lies he/she spews, and just simply gets away with most of it.

This is why I really like Obama...he mentioned that he would like a stimulus for homeowners, BUT if that holds up the bailout package and threatens the market, he will back down...he is pragmatic and wants action.

A more ideological democrat may have gotten stuck in partisanship, waiting for their own stimulus package for homeowners.

We need this brand of pragmatism and leadership!

Big difference in the two men, this is not the time to get in political jabs, its time to wotk together. I said on my blog that the economic terrorists within our country are more of a threat and danger than any Taliban guy in a cave.
It is just common sense, on who to vote for if you value your future.
This video says it all very clearly.
  • Beca · 1 year ago
You've done it again Jed! Great contrast, wow what a contrast! a serious, intelligent, insightful statesman vs babling village idiot...hmmm what a tough choice voters have on Nov.4th!
And to think that just today in my paper (Phila. Inquirer) there were two commentaries by these idiots praising McCain and perpetuating the myth that the meida has favored Obama all along! What caves do these idiots come from? I tell you, it felt as if my head was going to just blow off I was so angry!.
This video helped me cool down, so thanks! Keep up the excellent work Jed!

Barrack is just reading his speech verbatum. This collapse is the fault of the liberal dems. going back to Clinton with the community reinvestment act. Putting regulations on these companies to make bad loans to people who would not normally qualify. Also you know Barrack is the 2nd highest recieptient of funds from these companies libs bleeding it dry. Barrack will lead us right into socialism, I whis you people could see that and socialism isn't a good thing.
  • Michael · 1 year ago
hammerhead is absolutely correct. it was the democrats that bailed out the mortgages that will cost us in the trillions while these companies walk away with our money. they knew these were bad loans so the companies should go under--that's how a capitalist system works. if they want to do a bail out the US automakers would be a better choice, it will create jobs where people spend money and pay taxes in contrast to the mortgage companies we get nothing.
  • JimRaynor · 1 year ago
False. Republicans caused this mess when they deregulated the mortgage market with the "Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000."

More Americans are expected to vote this year than ever before in history, so don’t be left out! Be sure to ask everyone you know the following questions:
 Are you registered to vote? If you moved recently, have you updated your voter registration?
 Did you apply for an Absentee Ballot? Do you know your state may not require any reason?
 Can you find your local Polling Place? Do you know it may have changed from last time?

You all are dumb. 1st off it is an "edited" video, by some fool. 2nd Obama says what he would like to do not how he's going to do it. Anyone can say we are going to stop world hunger and make world peace, but not how to do it. Obama will turn this country into a socialist country and our taxes will be raised. THAT'S HIS ANSWER. thats retarded. Socialist??? you've obviously been watching TOO MUCH Sarah Palin... And I watched each debate.. Senator McCain is the one up there sounding like a fool and skirting around ACTUALLY answering the questions. He has said what needs to be done, which we all know what NEEDS to be done. But as far as i've seen he hasn't stated one concrete plan that he wants to go through with. Unlike Senator Obama. So YOU get YOUR facts straight. BTW it's not the BLOGS that are hurting the election, it's McCain/Palin's dirty tactics, mudslinging, blatant lies, and twisting around of Obama's words (at which Mrs. Palin is an expert).

seen from outside of the United States (I live in Europe) things stand out pretty clear: Obama has the qualities, the ideas, the "balls" to be a President. McCain looks like someone lost in his own courtyard that has no idea whare to go and what to do.

Republicans talk a lot, but don't say much.

The problems can not be solved by the Republicans since they created them, the Iraq Military occupation, the decline of the Economy and the overspending.

Ron Paul is the only one in touch with the principles of the Republican Party and I was saddened that he is not a contender.

Obama and Biden are the only ones that sound presidential and will actually do something for us.

McCain and Palin = Dumb and Dumber
  • Jackie · 1 year ago
Your video is poorly edited and highly misleading!

Obama has a great gift for speaking and saying what the public wants to hear.
I have heard it said that he could make a convincing speech on your shoestrings. However please pay heed, Obama's gift for rhetoric and promises will not make him a great President.

I would highly recommend to everyone here that they not only listen to what these candidates are saying; but also seek out their histories and compare their experiences and accomplishments. Let the facts speak for themselves! You will for sure discover a striking contrast between Obama and McCain. I realize that facts are not important to some of you and you have already engraved your decision into stone; but hopefully, most of you are seeking the truth and what would be best for America. Most importantly to those of you, who believe in prayer, please pray for America and for both candidates before making a final decision.

Myself, I will be supporting John McCain and Sarah Palin all the way into the White House. McCain is a true hero who loves America and I find comfort in knowing that he will be the one who takes that 3 A.M. call.

Now, let's see if you edit my comment out of your responses thus burying more of the real truth.

    Excellent video, Jed!

    Jed:

I disagree with your view in the situation. Your "man's" position is to let the government come up with a solution to the problem. He said let the ex-wall street insider get together with the other wall street folks and come up with a grand solution. Doesn't this sound STUPID to YOU? Let the people who created the MESS, come up with the SOLUTION? shame, shame, shame. You should listen to what the person is SAYING not HOW they say it.

If you take a real, close look at the issue, you will find major parties are partially to blame. In my research, it has been clear for the past 5 years, folks like McCain have been trying to reform the system. The Senate Leader (somebody from Nevada) pretty much blocked it. Some buy from MASS also said their was NO problem back a few years ago. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. Now we all know we have a major problem and you snip a couple clips to show "leadership". What a sham.

Same to you other blind rabbits posting on this site. You all should take off your blury glasses and figure out the root cause of problems and determine who can actually solve them. If you really research the current issue, you will find that the US GOVT (past 15 years) played a BIG part in creating the problem. NOW, you puff up your chest for a liberal who wants the US GOV'T to SOLVE the problem. Ha, Ha, Ha......

If I toook a quiz, you about "the stimulus refund", you were all probably for it. Ha. You probably want another one. Ha. You all sound like BUSH now. ha, ha.

Really? Help clean up the mess you created ... doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. Maybe if people/organizations start being held responsible for what they do, and required to help make it right, they wouldn't cause so many messes in the first place. I know that philosophy sure works with my kids!

    Have you heard about this?

latest gossip….Biden has had two brain aneurisms….

The "DIMS" know they're in big trouble since Sarah Palin and I've heard, from other sources, this is what they are planning to do about it.

...from excellent sources within the DNC:
On or about October 5th, Biden will excuse himself from the ticket, citing health problems, and he will be replaced by Hillary. This is timed to occur after the VP debate on 10/2.

I have already seen a few short blurbs about this - the "health problem" cited in those articles was aneurysm< EM>. probably many of you have heard the same rumblings. However, at this point, with this inside info from the DNC, it looks like this Obama strategy will be a go. Therefore, it seems that the best strategy is to get out in front of this obama maneuver, spell it out in detail, and thereby expose it for the grand manipulation that it is.

So, let's start mixing this one up and cut the obamites off at the pass - send this info out to as many people as you can - post about it on websites and blogs - etc etc

So...does this video show everything McCain had to say, or did you just cut out the important parts? It's one thing if you are making a fair comparison. But to show just what you want shown to mock the candidate you don't want is just despicable. How about we see EVERYTHING each candidate has to say and make an educated, logical opinion from the TRUTH instead of just fabricating nonsense? Your video is an insult to the intelligent people in this nation.

Anyone can cut and paste anything to make one person look better then another. All the sheep thinking barrack Hussen Osama is the savior are nuts. The guy can't find his way out of an American hating church. I will jump for joy the day he loses but the big questions are: A) Will the Negro's riot? B) Do I get to uphold my oath of protecting this country against all enemies and put down said riots? I sure hope so :)
  • dude · 1 year ago
Chris, Obama isn't the savior... he's just less worse than McCain. C'mon - McCain's mind is fading, and everything from Fortune Mag to FactCheck shows that everything he's saying is a lie. And Palin? She's nothing but a Republican blow up doll, McCain's only experience with the banking industry was he's one of the "Keating Five" responsible for the S&L loan scandal. Even his own son, Andrew McCain had blood on his hands in the Sept 08' Nevada bank closing. And now talk is coming out about the 32 recordings he made while a POW that was played in NVA and Cuban radio.

Bad news man. Bad policies too. And now he's confusing the FEC with the SEC, confusing Spain's Prime Minister as Latin American, invented the Blackberry, and the economy is sound.

    And that's just this week!

Check out Fortune Magazine's July 7th story on page 66. You will see how the Bush tax cuts are for the rich and how Obama's plan helps the middle class.

Good video but why does it begin and end with comments of the same person? Wouldn't be more fair to start with one person and end with the opposing one?
Just looking at the video from a middle of the road view.

Presidential candidates are playing the blame game in the lead-up ot Thursday's debate between running mates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin, and in the wake of the news that the proposed 700 billion dollar bail out package that both candidates had supported had failed to make it through Congress.

Furthermore, check these clash videos I found yesterday about the US Presidential candidates have talked taxes. Well, it’s entitled Obama v. McCain on Taxes. Watch these statements - then vote in http://clashorama.com/index.php?id=194

Obama, if he gets in will be the destruction of this country. First of all he and his wife are racist, if you havent' seen that then you aren't looking hard enough. Explain how he went to Rev. Wright's church for 20 yrs., and never heard him say those vicious things? He says he didn't, he's a liar. First thing he will do is let all illegal aliens into this country and let them get driving licenses, then he will let them be covered by insurance that we pay for and college. This is going to cost us tax payers 1 trillion dollars, and we will have a socialized country, before you vote know who you are voting for, know the candidate. I don't want my tax dollars going for illegal aliens health care or college, hell I don't want them here unless it is a work place program. This is only the beginning of what this guy is going to do.
