The Jed Report: Did they just cross the line on 9/11?

  • Malcolm Patrice Johnson · 1 year ago
Oh, he sounds PISSED. I know Keith's pissed voice, and that was it. Special Comment on Friday, anyone?
  • Terry · 1 year ago
    Here's the video...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDx80bnFrVs

horrible, what is wrong with these people?!?!
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
Thats why I don't watch crap like the GOP convention. They go over the top then accuse everyone else of crossing the line.
  • Jallenrule · 1 year ago
Should have expected it though. That's all the sore-losers have to go on: try to scare the shit out of everyone! Misery, yay! Death, war, oil, terror! Vote for us!
  • ezpz · 1 year ago
This is the one time I'm glad I was watching O'Reilly, something I never do and wouldn't have done if not to see Barack.

I've never seen so many dicks and dickettes piled into one place at the same time as at this convention. It's disgusting on so many levels, I don't even want to think about it, let alone watch.

    Ugh!
  • Diane · 1 year ago
I know I shouldn't be surprised by these thugs but they still manage to do it. As NY'r, someone that lived through those days AND also the horrible days of Rudy, this just makes my stomach turn.

Not only does this party hate poor people but they now have contempt for the lives lost that day.
  • RandyH · 1 year ago
I wonder if they'll do a partisan "Katrina Tribute" video. Oh, um, yeah. That's right.
  • biff · 1 year ago
What the hell world are these people living in? God forbid they get in the white house again.
  • WereBear · 1 year ago
This whole convention has been one big necrofest.

Last night I got so sick seeing Fred Thompson describing torture in front of the victim's mother that I didn't want to see tonight.

And I'm glad I passed on that.
  • Robin · 1 year ago
Disgusting. What a bunch of ghouls. Just when you think they can't go any lower, they prove once again what a bunch of opportunistic, fear-mongering a-holes they are. I hope Keith does a special comment tomorrow night.
  • MsCjay · 1 year ago
I watched the video and felt the same emotions that I did on 9/11. They crossed the line with this one, good lord.

I can't wait to watch Countdown tomorrow, I'm sure that Keith O will have a Special Comment.
  • jim · 1 year ago
This was a mistake. A very foolish one.

That day is basically sacred to a lot of Americans, & they just turned it into a campaign ad. This is the sort of cock-up that turns people off voting your ticket for MANY elections to come, let alone the one in November.
  • Sasha · 1 year ago
I thought it was despicable. As if they own it. They will use anything to crank up the emotional response they want.

I suppose people who lie about McCain's POW experience will do anything.

I don't have words for what should happen to such people.
  • dpolitico · 1 year ago
Outrageous. The video plays like a cult recruitment tape used by someone like the scientologists, or, I don't know, a jihadist? That wasn't a 9/11 video tribute, that was a pathetic attempt to scare the crap out of Americans. Terrorist recruiters would be impressed with the Republican effort. Imagine that tape showing bombings in Iraq and an arabic voice over and you've got the very thing the GOP claims it's trying to prevent. Olbermann was right to make that statement.
  • mikecoatl · 1 year ago
Despicable that they would play that video at a political convention. But all it really does is that it reinforces a core truth: that those God damn cowards have been using that tragedy for political gain since the very day it happened! If Barack Obama does not win in a LANDSLIDE I will no longer be proud to be an American.
  • erykah · 1 year ago
Not surprised! We must elect Obama in Novemeber. If not I am getting the f*** out of this country. You can believe that.
  • WestCoastian · 1 year ago
Not only was using 9/11 as a political message wrong, they were wrong to use the flag on that video screen or even mention the bible.

They've used all those things to call themselves Americans. They aren't like any Americans I know.
  • TrumanHugh · 1 year ago
Hey erykah...ME TOO...maybe we should all form a special ex-pat fundraiser to help pay for the endeavor!!
  • SusanD · 1 year ago
And, it turns out the "funeral" scene was phony - all done with actors in rented uniforms!
    Disgusting.

  • People in the Sun · 1 year ago
And of course, McCain's only redeeming point of the last eight years--his belated attack on Rumsfeld--and now he puts him in his horror movie with Rudy.

And the blood on the posters... I screamed when I saw that.

Olbermann has been so reserved as the anchor, but finally something had to be said
  • roo roo · 1 year ago
    IOKIYAR?
  • bfjones666 · 1 year ago
My wife was walking in the door right after the 9/11 video and she couldn't believe that I was telling her that the Republicans had just used the attacks as a political prop. I can't for the life of me EVER vote for a Republican for as long as I live. This was so far over the line it made me wonder if these cretins have no decency at all. They are pond scum. I lost friends and co-workers that day and to see those fucks use it to scare people into voting for that ass-wipe McCain turns my stomach.
  • nimblebooks · 1 year ago
    What line?

Are you suggesting that because your political opponents havcrossed over your (newly defined) line of good taste, they are now beyond the pale and no righteous person will recognize or respect them?
  • muffler · 1 year ago
I lived it and it makes me sick! They first come to NYC 4 years ago and then do this.. yuck! They are low class and fear mongers.

    Obama/Biden 08!!!
  • caligirl · 1 year ago
of course he went there, he is DESPERATE! scraping the bottom of the barrel is all mccain has left. pathetic, mentally deranged, vile human being.
  • El Cid · 1 year ago
John McCain spent 5 1/2 years as a Prisoner of War without seeing any footage of 9/11/2001, so now he can do whatever he wants.
  • Tintin · 1 year ago
This is only a mistake if the Dems take action and call out the fear-mongering Reps. If they do nothing, it will slide down the memory hole until the Reps shamelessly use it again.

So according to the video, the Iranian hostage crisis was an act of terrorism and is an event in direct line to 9/11? It had nothing to do with our supporting the Shah to his bitter end. All Muslims are interchangeable regardless of where they live, what they believe or what motivates them. I suppose it's another reason it's OK to kill all ragheads and let Allah sort them out. I'm only surprised they didn't put Putin's image up there too. After all, he probably has some connection to Osama during his KGB days and that explains why he wants to take over Georgia - or something.
  • Rucka123 · 1 year ago
well they really do OWN it. 9/11 is one of the worst terrorist attacks brought on by their incompetence and neglect by not actually reading the terror bulleltins. If they wish to remind the country of their failures, then so be it.
  • amdauer · 1 year ago
I seem to remember the McCain group getting "OUT RAGED" because Obama wanted to visit injured troops. They said it was only to win an election. That the Democratic Party was exploiting the troops.
My stomach is doing serious flips. I AM outraged. But not at Obama.
And to think, even for a minute, that my husband and I had considered that man.
He is nothing but a political prostitue, who will do anything to get elected!

Terrorism is all the thugs know. Talking about the GOP, of course.
  • Jmurder · 1 year ago
And the worst part is, they produce, edit and show this with a smile on their little rat faces.
  • fiver · 1 year ago
Why were the hostages taken by Persian, Shiite, Iran linked with terrorism conducted by Arab, Sunni, Al Queda?
  • litmus · 1 year ago
shameless fearmongering and exploitation of tragedy. those are GOP playbook essentials (not sure what page they're on in the 2008 version).

should anyone doubt that the republican party (and anyone who proudly claims association with it) is bereft of any moral authority and human decency, this should remove that doubt.

republicans: disgusting people (and i use the term 'people' very, very loosely), one and all.

I love the smell of burning liberal in the morning. Thanks, kids. Obama is so O'over. He is so NOT "entitled" to the Presidency, regardless of the hype. Keep it up with the hate-fest, though. Soul-shrinking hatred is no fun to watch unless it's covered in undirected hope and unnamed change, and, of course, sprinkled generously with superiority bred of ignorance and group-think passed off as truth. McCain/Palin are going to drive you Obama supporters/Bush haters/Republican despisers to medicate by November, though I suspect many Obama supporters are already (self)medicated.

By the way, "community organizer" is not listed in the OOH (occupational handbook) as a recognized occupation. How do you put that on a resume? I believe the other word for it is "bagman". I have a childhood friend who did 3 years in the federal pen for doing that for a state senator. What's in those Annenberg papers and where did the Annenberg millions go that Obama controlled? Give me answers, not manufactured outraged over a film at a convention. Aren't you the "reality-based" people? Lose the emotion. Country first (I'd say God first, country second but that would confuse you Obama supporters).

Tragedy plus time equals comedy, it has been said. With you folk, I can't wait. roflmao
    schadenfreude for all my friends!
  • TomDem55 · 1 year ago
Thanks, but we despise your "type" of republicans because the don't have the slightest idea what this country is about, here are a few hints
    1) country founded by liberals
    2) for definition of hate see Hannity, and O'Riley and Limbaugh (by the way THEY seem above the law how does that work in a democracy???
    3) See extremism and wrapped TOO tightly the old don't do as I do do as I say (Foley of Florida, Abramoff, Larry Craig, Cunningham, oh Cunningham had a cheat sheet for the amount of his bribes on his desk...
    4) Katrina
    5) War in Iraq
    6) Billions each week to private companies to charge the american taxpayer for a war without end
    7) Bungling the war in Afghanistan
    8) Housing crisis where NO OVERSIGHT (also known as opportunity for republican thieves) allows criminal destruction of housing lending opportunities
    9) Oil companies controlling our energy, HOWS that 4 dollar gas working for you? Huge Oil profits?
    10) God first? which God, the republican God who hates the poor and never saw a tax cut for the rich he could not take advantage of? or the Democratic God who actually believes in helping ALL Americans,
    you are a TOOL
hundreds more, but you are not listening as you are an ideologue
  • ErnieK · 1 year ago
Yes, they stepped over the line. It was absolutely shameful.
    However,
It also reminded me of the moronic, incompetent, and destructive response that Bush-McCain gave to the attack.
  • SteveIL · 1 year ago
"Did they just cross the line on 9/11?"

Why do liberals, including The One, keep trying to ignore the fact that this country is still at war?
  • notoriouspop · 1 year ago
You people are acting childish. You throw around all kinds of slurs and angry comments, because something like a 9/11 video troubles you. It was an historical event. It happened, and it had national consequences. Why not remember it?
  • steve · 1 year ago
91 wamanufactured by the NeoCons. It WAS an inside job and it worked. it got them everything they wanted, they lied us into a war in Iraq, we went along, they shredded the Constitution and the Bill Of Right, we went along, they spy on American citizens and arresst and detain without charges, we went along. 911 woked PERFECTLY. Why wouldn't they continue to milk tht golden cow? It has worked perfectly

    911 WAS an inside job.
  • kasha · 1 year ago
KO got it right and this is despicable. If this is the direction the people of this country choose to take then yes, I AM NOT PROUD of my country.

That said -- I hope and pray that everyone who is outrage by the RNC using 9-11 as a political ploy to instill fear in our hearts is working like crazy to make sure that Obama wins in November. If you are not, don't complain if things don't turn out the way you want it to.

Obama/Biden '08 - there is no other choice.
  • Paul · 1 year ago
Also, McCain took the stage at 9:11
  • Spooky2 · 1 year ago
The Leftist Democrats always try to appeal directly to the emotions over and over again when they show poor people suffering from horrible health care insurance in the US or poor people who have lost their homes and are suffering.

But just try to show how 3000 Americans were horribly killed by brutal Islamofacist thugs, who on a daily basis are trying to do repeat the devastation and murder, these Leftys and their minions fain disgust.

    LMAO at these hypocrites.
  • james · 1 year ago
These Leftists Democrats are at war with reality. They will fight anyone attempting to focus their thoughts on reality and will blame and offer maddening remarks at Bush/Cheney for making them think.

Whether it is over the line or not, it illustrates the intellectual poverty of the GOP. "We don't have any ideas that would attract anyone to vote for us, so we'll try to scare you into it." Different people have different values and different thresholds, so some people think this is despicable, some think it is cravenly exploitative, and some think it is dandy. Those are all valid reactions. In my mind, the most valid conclusion from it is that they don't give undecided voters much credit, assuming they are incapable of making a nuanced decision. Instead, they assume that they are simple enough to be swayed merely by the reminder that something bad happened once. Of course, I'm probably giving undecided voters too much credit. Half of everybody is below average.

A lot of people don't understand that they should be more fearful of what the Republicans did to us than they are of what al Qaeda might do. My guess is that odds are significantly better that our email will be "inadvertently" read, a phone conversation "inadvertently" recorded by our government than we will perish in some gruesome terrorist attack. Odds are probably significantly better that a hammerhead shark will burst into a Shoney's and kill a retired school teacher than the American way of life faces an existential threat from al Qaeda. The threat posed by our own government, by the loss of our constitutional freedoms, and by our own complacency is far worse.
  • Rebecca · 1 year ago
I have to ask the Republicans on here....it has been said that the Saudis (for they were the main participants in 9/11)..opps sorry people from Iraq (Bush ignored the fact it was Saudis) did this because they hated the freedoms of the US. In reply to that you kept a guy (Bush) that has trampled on American freedoms in the name of 9/11. You want McCain to keep trampling on American freedoms to keep you safe.

Do you not see that letting your government take AWAY the freedoms you held so dear is giving the terrorists a win? In essence you are agreeing with them that your freedoms were not that important because you are willing to toss them aside. You are becoming the America, THEY wanted...just look at McCain not taking any criticism and banning the press from his campaign if they don't agree with him instead of taking it head on and pressing his point of view. You really want a press ban?

9/11 should have enforced how free America is, instead it let Bush et all clamp down on all that is held dear and NOT be free and I can't believe you want to continue in that vein.

I see the talking points are up at the Repub web sites. Good job. Do you get paid for posting nonsense or maybe your name goes in a drawing for a free night at a Days Inn?

After 8 years, few (but sadly some) will fall to talking points, fear tactics, crazy biographies, or just plain lying. Enough already! Go play with your legos.
